A note from Rachel…
I was lucky enough to grow up in a family of strong, creative and loving women and spent a lot of time with both my grandmothers.
One was a vivacious woman who loved going out dancing through the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s in an array of magnificent frocks, which later become a dress-ups treasure trove for my sisters and I. It was about this time that I lost my heart to the imperfect exquisiteness of vintage gowns.
The other had a enormous cave of a sewing room stuffed with more fabric and trims than a haberdashery store. She’d let me potter around and explore while she sewed and the day she came home from the flea market with a kids sewing machine was a turning point. Life has come full circle and I’ve recently bought my 6 year old daughter a kids sewing machine and watched her proudly wear her handmade ‘mermaid bag’ every time we leave the house ♡
I believe the way we portray ourselves through what we wear has an enormous impact on how we feel. When we consciously match our outerwear to our inner self, we feel harmonious and in flow. When we don’t, it can feel discordant, as though we’re wearing a costume or mask.
Our wedding day attire is the epitome of this desire to reflect who we are through what we wear. Whether we choose a strapless, figure hugging confection or a slim silk sheath with minimalist accessories, our ensemble is a mirror into how we’d like to be seen in this space.
Be yourself. Always and unashamedly.
With love,
Rachel ♡
